Snoring is hazardous to your health and eventually leads to sleep apnea and possibly going deaf. Our airway requires us to have muscle tone to stay open. Snoring and the vibrations surrounding this decrease tone. This is done because the vibrations of snoring injure the airway by damaging nerve endings and blood vessels. Dr. Colin Sullivan who invented the CPAP Machine is a big proponent of children getting their tonsils and adenoids out to prevent further complications in life with Sleep Apnea. It seems that people who still have their tonsils and adenoids are more likely to suffer from snorting and sleep apnea than those who do.  If you have an overbite or cross bite, taking care of them with an orthodontist  is something to consider.    Colin Sullivan looked for patients with sleep apnea. He wanted to experiment with them! They were hard to find at first. He couldn’t find any at the beginning. He sent up different models studying airway obstruction in animals and humans. The problem was how to measure airflow. They measured airflow by doing tracheostomy on dogs. He would occlude the airway and be able to test the airflow. At this time he was creating masks for dogs.
