Your Insurance
- In order for us to bill your insurance, at a minimum we must have a prescription with a diagnosis, copies of your insurance cards, and patient information. Some companies may require prior authorization.
- Products are billed with HCPC codes assigned by SADMERC. Manufacturers need to
apply to have these assigned. Even with a script, some items may not be reimbursed. There is a dollar figure assigned to that billing code and some newer products may have a dollar figure totally beyond what is acceptable as reasonable and customary charges. Products often covered are canes, walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, knee braces, wrist splints, mastectomy prostheses, compression stockings, power chairs, ostomy supplies, hospital beds and overlays.
- Most insurance companies do not cover bathroom safety.
- Medicare requires an evaluation by a physical therapist and doctor for scooters, wheelchairs and power chairs.
- Medicare pays 80% of its allowed amount which may or may not be the price of the item.
- No person can guarantee payment by your insurance. It is always the discretion of that insurance company whether they deem medically necessary.
