About Us

Footit Surgical Supplies, Inc. was founded in 1953 by Wallace P. Footit.

When a Boston surgical supplier pulled out of the Springfield market, Wally borrowed $350.00 from a local bank to purchase inventory and their customer list.

Footit detailed doctors, hospitals and nursing homes until 1955. Wally saw a national trend in home-based recovery so he opened a small retail location on Eastern Avenue. His foresight proved correct, therefore in 1963 Footit moved to the "X" shopping district in the Forest Park section of Springfield, MA.

His compassion, sense of humor and relationship with physicians made Wally a referral for homecare equipment and bracing. For years his advertising slogan was "Your doctor knows us."

In 1991 Footit Surgical Supplies, Inc. was purchased by Marc and Kathleen Lucas. They have continued with the same commitment of quality and choice for their customers.

In order to expand their homecare products line, they moved the store in 1995 to a 4000 sq. ft. location in West Springfield. It has easy access and parking. Their product line has expanded over the years and Footit takes pride in themselves for being the first to introduce many of the latest health maintenance products on the market to help their customers live well.

Services

Footit's staff is trained at various schools for compression therapy products, bracing, diabetic shoes, orthotics and durable medical equipment. There is a Certified ABC and BOC Orthotist on staff. Footit Health Care Store is ACHC accredited.

We offer service on wheelchairs, lift chairs, scooters and stairway elevators.

We are contracted with many major insurance carriers.

Directions:

From Connecticut, take I-91N to exit 3, follow signs to Agawam and West Springfield. After going over the bridge, keep left and follow Route 5 to exit for West Springfield, Route 147W. At end of the ramp, follow the rotary three quarters of the way around and take the right onto Memorial Avenue between Dunkin Donuts and Valley Sales. We are approximately ¼ mile on the right, after Taco Bell. Parking lot and entrance are handicap accessible.

From the North, go south on I-91 to exit 7 in Springfield. At end of ramp take a right over the Memorial Bridge. At end of bridge, merge into rotary goind halfway around to Memorial Avenue between Dunkin Donuts and Valley Sales. We are approximately ¼ mile on the right, after Taco Bell. Parking lot and entrance are handicap accessible.
